Red Sox Hold Top Spot In First Poll

The Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox have won two of the last three Cape Cod League titles and found themselves in a similar position after the first two weeks of the 2007 season. The Red Sox had a 9-3-1 record and led the league with a .282 team batting average. They also were second in ERA at 2.52. Sophomore shortstop Gordon Beckham (Georgia ) won player of the week honors in the second week of the Cape Cod League season and was hitting .358 with four homers and 13 RBIs. His teammate, sophomore righthander Bobby Gagg (Coastal Carolina) earned pitcher of the week honors after throwing seven scoreless innings in a 4-2 victory over Orleans .
