Top Prospect List (2009's)
1) Matt Davidson, 3B/RHP, Yucaipa HS-Davidson combines an outstanding
combination of hitting ability and raw power. He is one of the top offensive
players in the Class of 2009 and could potentially be an early-round draft
pick. He has committed to USC.
2) Brooks Pounders, RHP/3B, Temecula Valley HS-The question is whether
Brooks will be better on the mound or at the plate. He has a very advanced
pitching approach and could probably pitch in college right now. At the plate,
Brooks has big-time power and is also one of the best all-around hitters in his
class. He has committed to USC.
3) Tony Calhoun, RHP, Temecula Valley HS-Tony has been a well known
player for a few years now and has the making of a high draft pick in 2009. He
has tremendous arm speed and easily gets his fastball into the low 90’s. His
arm action is great and he is a very good all-around athlete. He has committed
to Cal State Fullerton.
4) Cameron Garfield, C, Murrietta Valley HS-An outstanding catching
prospect, Cameron has the tools to be a highest-level defender as well as a
big-time hitting prospect. At the plate he has big power to all fields and he
had the lowest pop time of any player at the event. (1.76)
5) Thomas Lemke, RHP, Northwest Christian HS-One of the most projectable
players in Class of 2009, Thomas features a fastball that has topped out at 90
in the past. He has a good arm action with a clean delivery and has a great
build to add velocity.
6) Jiovanni Mier, SS/RHP, Bonita HS-A very good all-around athlete,
Jiovanni has the tools to be a highest level shortstop. He has great actions in
the field and good potential on the mound.
7) Matthew Moynihan, OF, Cathedral Catholic HS-An outstanding athlete,
Matthew has the tools to probably be a high-level football prospect along with
baseball. He ran the fastest 60-yard dash (6.68) and shows lots of hitting
tools.
8) Keenyn Walker, OF, Judge Memorial HS- A blazing fast outfielder (6.68)
who covers a lot of ground in the OF. He also shows potential with the bat and
is one to follow in the 2009 class.
9) Christian Walker, 3B, Kennedy-Kenrick HS-One of the top hitters at the
event, Christian has the tools to be a big time power hitter at the next level.
He is very strong for his age and can hit the ball out of any part of the
field. Christian has committed to South Carolina.
10) Caden Kreuter, 3B, Hart HS, He has a huge frame and is very
projectable. Already shows excellent 3B actions with a strong arm. Has serious
power potential at the plate and will continue to improve as he grows into his
projectable frame.
11) Albert Alvarez, MIF, Temecula Valley HS, A slick fielding MIF with
athletic actions. Can also run(6.82) and uses it by being an aggressive base
runner. He shows a nice swing at the plate with bat speed.
12) Nolan Arenado, IF/RHP, El Toro HS, A two way prospect, he shows a
solid glove in the infield with arm strength. Has bat speed with good hand
strength and the ball comes off his bat well. He also was up to 87 on the hill
with pitchability
13) Corey Black, IF/RHP, Mission Bay HS-A true utility type player Corey
not only has the skills to play almost every position, but he can play them all
at a high level. His arm strength is his best tool, helping him run it up to 88
on the mound.
14) Andrew Wellman, OF, El Toro HS, A very athletic OF who covers a lot
of ground using his 6.90 speed and also has a strong, accurate arm. He makes
very good contact with a swing that shows good bat speed and a line drive
plane.
15) Ethan Miller, RHP, Ayala HS, With an excellent pitchers build, Ethan has and
easy delivery that produces mid 80’s fastball and is easy to see him throwing
in the nineties. He also shows serious power potential with the bat.
16) Aaron Northcraft, RHP, Mater Dei HS, He has a tall lanky frame and a
very deceptive delivery. He uses a very high leg kick and a sidearm angle to
attack hitters with a mid 80’s fastball and a breaking ball that shows
potential.
17) Matthew Paradise, 3B, J Serra HS, Excellent 3B with soft hands and
makes all the plays. He also makes solid contact at the plate and ball carries
well off his bat.
18) James Dykstra 3B, Rancho Bernardo HS, Athletic infielder with solid
actions. Has big potential at the plate with a quick bat and finds the barrel
of the bat.
19) Mitchell Patito, RHP, Patriot HS, He has a loose quick arm on the
mound that produces mid to upper 80’s fastballs. Shows a good breaking ball and
command of all of his pitches.
20) Phillip Gonzalez, RHP, Claremont HS, He throws a heavy fastball that
can reach the upper 80’s. He also throws a deceptive slider that he locates
well. His body and arm project well and he should continue to improve.
Top 2010’s and 2011’s
1) Stefan Sabol, C, Aliso Niguel HS-The 2010 grad is a terrific
all-around athlete that shows the rare five-tool potential behind the plate. He
has big upside at the plate and is very advanced defensively.
2) Jake Hernandez, C, Los Osos HS-The 2010 prospect, shows big upside
behind the plate with quick transfers and a big arm. He has good raw hitting
tools and has already committed to USC.
3) Travis Harrison, OF, Tustin HS-A 2011 prospect, Travis Harrison could
wind up being one of the best hitters in the country in a few years. He has
unbelievable raw power for his age and has run under 7.0 in the sixty in the
past.
4) Cory Hahn, OF/LHP, Mater Dei HS-A 2010 prospect, Cory has outstanding
two-way potential on the mound and in the outfield. He has the tools needed to
be a very good leadoff hitter and has nice upside on the mound.
5) Brett Dahlson, RHP/IF, J Serra HS, Talented two-way prospect who is
already mid to upper 80’s on the mound and shows good pitchability with a good
mix of pitches. He also shows a nice swing at the plate with good bat speed and
has power potential.
6) Daniel Camarena, LHP/OF, Cathedral Catholic HS-An outstanding two-way
prospect, Daniel is a 2011 grad that will make lots of noise in the coming
years. He is a very polished LHP, but swings the bat a ton as well.
7) Trent Zaks, MIF, Cypress HS-The 2010 grad is another in a long line of
outstanding infield prospect that have come through Cypress HS. He has very
smooth infield actions with great agility and a strong arm.
