Aflac Pitchers' Peak Velocity
Ernesto
Hermosillo
was the PG scout who took all the Stalker readings during the Aflac Game.
Ernesto is also the head coach at
East
Lake
high school in
San Diego
and brother of Manny Hermosillo who coached the West Team this year. Ernesto works
several PG events as a scout in the summer including the big WWBA tournaments in
Georgia
. He’s one of the best. The readings
shown on television were fairly close in most instances this year.
However there were a few discrepancies and when that happens, we always use
the gun reading we get on the Stalker.
Fourteen pitchers threw in the game.
All touched at least 90 mph except the winning pitcher Jack Armstrong who we got
at 89 mph. Quinton Miller touched 90
mph on his very last pitch. The rest
all topped out at 91 or higher on our Stalker.
We haven’t seen the complete telecast yet, so it should be very interesting
to compare and we will. Of course, we noticed there were some pitches where the
velocity didn’t show up on television.
Here is a list of the 14 pitchers who threw in the game and their “peak” velocity
during the Aflac All American Classic.
