Cade Kreuter, 6-5/185, R/R,Valencia,
Newhall, CA
Aflac Report: August 29th, 2007
Kreuter has a very high ceiling. His
6-5/185 athletic body, ability and bloodlines make him project off the chart. In
San
Diego
he showed outstanding hands and a strong arm playing in the infield.
His actions and body control are excellent.
We didn't get a good time on him, but it looks like he can run very well. He's just a real good athlete.
At the plate he displayed excellent under control bat speed and there's
little doubt that he will hit with power.
He has an advanced stroke that should allow him to adjust to any level.
He will use the entire field and he can hit it hard to the opposite field. He plays shortstop, but it looks like
he could handle just about any position on the field.
Kreuter needs to be followed very closely as he is the type that could blossom
into a very special talent.
Michael Heller, 6-1/175, R/R, Mooney-Sarasota,
Bradenton, FL
Summer Team – Akadema Raiders
Aflac Report: August 29th, 2007
Heller is a 6-1/175 RHP/MIF who really was impressive in
San Diego
. He took an outstanding BP. The ball
jumps off his bat. He's a very good
athlete who can really play the game, but he stands out the most on the mound. This kid is good!
Very smooth, fluid, and quick arm action.
He uses a fairly slow deliberate delivery that he repeated consistently. His fastball ranged from 87-90 and
his last pitch was 90. His breaking
ball was good at mid 70s range. He
showed a nice changeup and we thought we saw a couple cutters in the lower 80s. He showed good command and mound presence. Heller is for real and should create
a ton of interest from highest level DI programs.
He could develop into an early draft pick as well.
Heller is a good student.
Ethan Bornstein, 6-1/195, L/L,
Winter Park
,
Maitland, FL
Summer Team –
Orlando
Scorpions
Aflac Report: August 29th, 2007
Bornstein is a solidly built 6-1/195 LHP/1B who looked very good this summer and
again in
San
Diego
. We've seen him throw a bit better
earlier this summer, but he showed mid 80s velocity and a good off speed combination. The slider was 77 with some late break. His change was good at mid 70s.
Bornstein can pitch and that's probably his future, but he can hit.
Against one of the top pitchers in
San Diego
, Bornstein was the only one to get good swings.
He has some very serious power potential and scouts have got to watch him
swing the bat. To us, he is a definite
2 way guy in college. He's also a good
student.
Patrick Schuster, 6-2/165, L/L, Mitchell,
Holiday
, FL
Summer Team –
Southwest Florida
Aflac Report: August 29th, 2007
Schuster might be the hardest pitcher to hit in the entire 2009 class. He has a
lean 6-2/160 athletic body. He is real
deceptive and comes at hitters from a low arm angle from the left side.
His fastball has outstanding life and looks much harder than the 88 mph velocity
he showed in
San
Diego
. He has clean smooth whippy arm action
and throws three quality pitches with great command.
Those familiar with (08) Ryan Weber, this is him, except bigger and from
the left side. There are guys who will
throw harder right now, but none are any better.
There's a ton of projection left here, too.
Schuster is also a very good student.
Sky is the limit!
Keenyn Walker, 6-1/183, S/R, Judge Memorial,
Salt Lake
City, UT
Summer Team – Judge Team
Aflac Report: August 29th, 2007
Keenyn Walker has a very athletic looking 6-1/183 body and some serious tools to
go along with it. He looked very good
in the outfield in
San Diego
and showed a good strong arm and excellent range.
He can run and he looks very confident with his defensive ability.
At the plate he's a switch hitter with a good looking swing from both sides. He probably impressed us most from the
left side at this event, but he's good both ways.
He hits hard line drives and projects to hit with good power.
Walker
is definitely a player to follow closely over the next two years.
There's a lot of natural ability here.
Tim Brechbuehler, 6-8/205, R/R, Avon,
Gillette, NJ
Aflac Report: August 29th, 2007
Brechbuehler is a tall 6-8/205 RHP that has a chance to develop into a real serious
prospect in the near future. He topped
out at 89 in
San Diego
, but that's just the beginning for him.
Like most very young tall pitchers he hasn't mastered repeating his delivery and
his mechanics have not been solidified yet.
He throws with a bit too much effort and it affects his command.
On the good side, his arm works very well, it's a long quick arm action that
combined with his size promises big velocity numbers in the future.
He obviously gets a good down hill plane to the plate with his high 3/4 slot. He will need to develop some good off
speed pitches, but there's no big hurry.
Anything could happen here if things fall in line.
Steven Perez, 5-11/160, S/R, Gulliver Prep,
Miami
, FL
Summer Team – All American Prospects
Aflac Report: August 29th, 2007
Perez was one of our favorites in
San Diego
. At 5-11/160 he has a lean athletic
look and some definite tools. He can
run, throw and play the middle infield with anyone in high school baseball. He has excellent defensive actions and
quick first step instincts. He's a
player! Offensively he is equally talented. He’s a switch hitter who showed the
ability to square up on highest level pitching.
He shows outstanding bat speed and a nice, well balanced approach.
We think he will hit for power in the future.
Perez looks like a guy who needs to be on everyone's college list and he
might be playing the game for a long, long time.
Cooper Moseley, 5-11/165, L/R, Success Unlimited
Academy,
Montgomery, AL
Summer Team – East Cobb Astros
Aflac Report: August 29th, 2007
Moseley is a talented two way player that we've been following for a long time now. He didn't disappoint in
San
Diego
showing well in all facets of the game.
He was up to 91 from the mound, with his lightening fast arm and very good leverage. His CB was equally good if not even
better, a hard mid 70s downer. Moseley
played well in the field showing good range, nice hands and a big arm.
He's an excellent infielder and he can hit.
He hits from the left side and the ball comes off his bat very fast. He will
hit with power and he will hit for average.
Moseley is an excellent student and one of the nation's top 09 prospects.
Anthony Italiano, 5-11/165, R/R, St. Anthony,
West
Sayville, NY
Summer Team –
South Florida
Bandits
Aflac Report: August 29th, 2007
Italiano has a good athletic looking 5-11/165 body and he is an interesting catching
prospect from NY. He showed a strong,
quick, accurate arm in
San Diego
. He looks very comfortable behind
the plate. He has quick feet, good
hands and transfers the ball cleanly with quickness.
He gives the appearance of being very knowledgeable about his job.
On offense he has a nice quick line drive swing and will use the field. He looks like the type that will not
strike out a lot and he has a chance to hit with power down the road.
Italiano is a good catcher who can hit and think the game.
Most importantly, he appears to really enjoy playing the game and plays it
the right way. He's also a very good
student.
