TOP 50 JUNIOR-COLLEGE TEAMS, 2009

15. Eastern Oklahoma

2008 Record: 41-18.

Team Capsule: No. 29 Seminole State and No. 42 Connors State have traditionally dominated the Oklahoma junior-college ranks—and even Western Oklahoma made a breakthrough in Division II a year ago—but this should be Eastern Oklahoma’s year to shine. Coming off a school-record 41-win season in 2008, the Mountaineers return LHP-OF Jeff Scardino (3-2, 2.70; .337-4-33), who inherits the No. 1 starter’s job and will play right field when he doesn’t pitch. Powerful Stephen Hagen, the projected No. 3 hitter, headlines an impressive list of newcomers that includes ex-Arkansas OF Houston Slemp, who will lead off, and freshman OF Justin Klusak, who is slotted to hit cleanup.

Top Prospect: Stephen Hagen, 3b-of. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound Hagen is slow afoot and lacks a defined position, but he has exceptional raw power (11 homers in fall ball). He transferred from Oregon State, where he red-shirted in ’08, and will attend Texas Tech in 2010.

Players, PG Crosschecker Top 250 Prospects: No. 56 Stephen Hagen, 3b-of; No. 151 Justin Klusak, of; No. 250 Tommie Johnson, of.

Opening Game, 2009: Feb. 4 at No. 3 Grayson County (Texas) JC.
