NEW 2010 HS TOP 500 PROSPECTS

Starting with this 2010 player rankings list, we are establishing a new format.

In the past it has been very difficult to designate the difference in a player’s rank once we got to a certain point.  For example a player ranked 510 vs. a player ranked 910.  These are all good players but it is difficult to separate them.  It is always possible that a player ranked 910 could in fact end up being a better prospect than a player ranked 510.  At least in our mind they are much closer than the player ranked #1 and a player ranked #400.

Starting with this list we will rank the players as accurately as possible to a certain point.  In this case 1 through 500. This will be followed by a list naming players alphabetically… This group of names will be designated “High Follows”.  Then that will be followed by another alphabetical list of players designated “Follows”.

The “High Follow” list will include players who were given strong consideration for ranking.  The “Follow” list will include players that we feel could develop into ranked players in the near future.  It might also include players that we have identified but not yet seen somewhere.

All the rankings lists are updated very often, with large scale changes periodically.  It is possible that players will be added or moved up or down very frequently as we gain more information.  These day to day changes will not always be listed as a new update because they don’t involve large scale changes, they often involve one or two players who have been added, subtracted or moved up or down.  The goal, as always, is to be as accurate as possible by the time the class becomes draft eligible.

pgcrosschecker has become the number one source for college coaches and MLB scouts.  Those who follow pgcrosschecker will notice other lists seem to pop up after the pgcrosschecker list.  That is because there is only one true “independent” scouting service outside of professional baseball who actually scouts the old fashioned way… See the player!  The number of fulltime scouts and others involved in the PG network is something that no one else can come close to matching, be it the volume or the accuracy.  That is why everyone follows pgcrosschecker for reliable scouting information… Even the others who rank players!

Thanks to the thousands of you who subscribe to pgcrosschecker and made it the number one source for scouting information.  We plan to keep improving…  Any and all suggestions are very welcome.
