Much has been made of how the Chicago Cubs are at 99 years and counting since they last won a World Series. Second on the list are the Cleveland Indians, who last won a World Series in 1948. But at least the Indians are in the running still to end that lengthy drought as they are taking on the Boston Red Sox in the American League Championship Series.

Following are the 10 longest ongoing World Series droughts:

  Club Years
1. Chicago Cubs 99
2. Cleveland Indians 59
3. San Francisco/New York Giants 54
4. *Texas Rangers/Washington Senators 47
5. *Houston Astros 46
6. *Milwaukee Brewers/Seattle Pilots 39
7. *San Diego Padres 39
8. *Washington Nationals/Montreal Expos 39
9. *Seattle Mariners 31
10. Pittsburgh Pirates 28
