Winningest Teams, Minor Leagues

It’s not been a great year at the major league level for the San Francisco Giants (49-67, .422), who are in a virtual tie with the Pittsburgh Pirates for the poorest record in the National League. But Giants farm clubs boast the best record in the minor leagues at both the full-season and short-season levels. The Giants’ Augusta club in the low A South Atlantic League is sailing along with a 77-42 (.647) record while their Salem-Keizer affiliate in the short-season Class A Northwest League is a gaudy 42-10 (.808).

Following are the minors’ 10 winningest full-season teams, with league and major league affiliation noted:

  Team/League (MLB Affiliate) Rec Pct
1. Augusta/South Atlantic (Giants) 77-42 .647
2. Kinston/Carolina (Indians) 74-41 .643
3. Frisco/Texas (Rangers) 74-43 .632
4. Asheville/South Atlantic (Rockies) 73-45 .619
5. Tampa/Florida State (Yankees) 74-46 .617
6. Jacksonville/Southern (Dodgers) 72-47 .605
7. West Virginia/South Atlantic (Brewers) 70-47 .598
  Columbus/South Atlantic (Devil Rays) 70-47 .598
9. Beloit/Midwest (Twins) 70-48 .593
10. Nashville/Pacific Coast (Brewers) 71-49 .592
