Day Three of USA Baseball’s Tournament of Stars featured three games and here’s a sampling of the highlights of the day.
AJ Cole(Oviedo HS, Winter Springs, FL) threw today, sitting at 89-92 topping at 94 with his fastball. He projects well and shows a solid for his slider/slurve. One of the top prospects in the class
Cory Hahn (Mater Dei HS, Corona, CA) has been outstanding this week. He seems to have hammered the ball every time at the plate and also hit a homerun Wednesday night in the very spacious stadium field. He really generates great bat speed and attacks the baseball. He ran a 6.80 sixty and also was sharp in relief sitting at 87-89 with good pitchability
Robbie Ray (Brentwood HS, Brentwood, TN) was sharp late last night, sitting at 88-91 with his fastball and showing two potential quality off-speed pitches.
Jay Gonzalez (Freedom HS, Orlando, FL) has really played well. He posted the fastest 60-time at 6.55 and has swung the bat really well. He’s going to be a very good college player for someone.
Brian Ragira(James Martin HS, Arlington, TX) is an outstanding outfield prospect. His bat projects and he has a good arm for right field. He ran a 6.98 sixty and showed 5 tool potential.
Casey Mulholland (Pendleton School, Bradenton, FL) projects well and sat at 87-90 with his fastball
Drew Cisco (Wando HS, Mount Pleasant, SC) sat at 88-92 yesterday and has a good feel for pitching. His arm works well and his delivery is clean.
Garin Cecchini (Barbe HS, Lake Charles, LA) definitely passes the eye test. He posted a 6.90 sixty and took a very good batting practice. Both of his hitting tools project well. His dad is the head coach at Barbe HS and he shows good feel for the game.
Nick Castellanos (Archbishop McCarthy, Davie, FL) hitting tools play big and he ran a 6.87 sixty.
Bobby Wahl (West Springfield HS, Springfield, VA) looked good sitting at 88-92 with feel for two quality off-speed pitches. He has a clean arm action and good delivery. Could be a guy that is throwing 94-95 next year.
Dan Child (Jesuit HS, Rocklin, CA) ran his fastball 90-93 mph with a fairly tight slider.
Alex Ramsay (Severna Park, Millersville, MD) is going to be a very good college player. He has a really smooth left-handed swing and has swung the bat well during games.
Jimil Judon (Myrtle HS, Myrtle, MS) might be the most physically imposing player at the event. He shows plus bat speed right now and really got into a few balls in batting practice. He is still raw at this point, but when he figures it out he is going to be a good one.
